The Philadelphia Phillies (72-50) will try to secure the series win on Saturday against the Washington Nationals (55-68) at Citizens Bank Park. After a Kyle Schwarber grand slam in Wednesday's 9-5 win and a Weston Wilson cycle in Thursday's 13-3 rout, the Phillies had a new hero in a dramatic 3-2 walk-off win on Friday.
Trea Turner's breakout from his second-half slump couldn't have come at a better time as he singled off the left field wall in the bottom of the ninth on Friday to give the Phillies their third straight victory. The shortstop has racked up seven hits in the last two games since getting a day off on Wednesday to get himself right.
Phillies starter Aaron Nola went 6 2/3 of shutout ball, scattering seven hits and two walks while striking out four. He left with a 2-0 lead but didn't get the win after closer Carlos Estévez let the Nationals tie it in the top of the ninth. Luckily, the Phillies bats came through to send everyone, except the Nationals, home happy. The good vibes are back in Philly.
