Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs Twins, July 23
The lineups are set as Zack Wheeler and the Phillies look to get back in the win column against the Twins at Target Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies (63-37) will try to bounce back from a disappointing loss on Monday against the Minnesota Twins (55-44). The way the rain-delayed game turned out, the Phillies probably wish the storms continued all night because there certainly wasn't much thunder in their bats.
Despite Ranger Suárez's encouraging showing, holding the Twins to three runs on seven hits over 5 1/3 innings, the offense couldn't muster anything off of Twins starter Bailey Ober after Bryce Harper's first-inning two-run blast. The uninspiring 7-2 loss was just the latest of discombobulated efforts by the Phils.
Now mired in a 2-5 skid since sweeping the Dodgers, the Phillies will turn to their ace Zack Wheeler on Tuesday.
Phillies vs. Twins probable pitchers, July 23
- Zack Wheeler (10-4) will take the ball for the Phillies. Making his first appearance since leaving his July 9 start against the Dodgers with back stiffness, the right-hander comes in with a 2.70 ERA and 0.99 WHIP in 19 starts. Through his 11 July innings, Wheeler has allowed just three runs on eight hits with 14 strikeouts.

In his first full-time season in the majors, the 23-year-old has held opposing hitters to a .228 batting average and an impressive .642 OPS while registering less than a strikeout per inning.
