Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs Twins, July 22
The lineups are set as Ranger Suárez and the Phillies open a three-game series against the Twins at Target Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies (63-36) will try to bounce back from a disappointing weekend in Pittsburgh when they visit the Minnesota Twins (54-44) on Monday to open a three-game series at Target Field.
The Phillies stumbled out of the All-Star break, dropping two of three to the Pirates. It was especially rough after blowing a pair of three-run leads in a winnable game on Friday. They managed to salvage Sunday's finale on the back of a fantastic second-career start from rookie Tyler Phillips and remain 8.5 games up in the NL East.
The Twins come into the series on a three-game losing skid and are 5-5 in their last 10. After losing a pair on the weekend to the Brewers, they sit 5.0 games back in the AL Central but are in the second AL Wild Card spot.
Phillies vs. Twins probable pitchers, July 22
- Ranger Suárez (10-4) will make his first start of the second half for the Phillies. The lefty comes in with a 2.76 ERA and 1.04 WHIP in his 19 starts after missing his final start of the first half with back soreness. After looking untouchable for most of the season, Suárez has looked mortal in his last three outings, going 0-3 with an 8.62 ERA.
- Bailey Ober (8-5) will get the ball for the Twins today. The 29-year-old right-hander has a 4.14 ERA and 1.08 WHIP in 18 starts this season. Now in his fourth MLB season, Ober has posted five straight quality starts, with a 2.16 ERA, 11.07 K/9 and 1.62 BB/9 over that stretch.
