The Philadelphia Phillies (82-56) will try to win the series against the Toronto Blue Jays (67-73) when the two teams finish up their quick two-game set at Rogers Centre on Wednesday. The Phillies, thanks to Kyle Schwarber and a horrible Toronto bullpen, took the first game on Tuesday night with an epic comeback 10-9 win.
Things started out well for the Phillies after Schwarber hit a home run to lead off the game. The tide quickly turned in the bottom of the first frame. Tyler Phillips had another rough start, giving up six runs on eight hits and wasn't able to escape the inning, getting just two outs.
The Phillies battled back and set the stage for Schwarber in the top of the ninth when he came up with two on, trailing 8-7. The designated hitter sealed his historic night by crushing his fifth hit and third home run of the night, putting the Phillies up 10-8. The miraculous victory brought their magic number to clinch the NL East down to 18 games.
The Phillies optioned Phillips before Wednesday's game, adding right-hander Nick Nelson to the bullpen mix.
