Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. San Francisco Giants, August 22

The Phillies (68-57) bounced back from a disappointing Nationals series, to take the first game versus the Giants (65-60) on Monday night. All nine starters in the lineup contributed, resulting in a combined 16 hits. The 10-4 win was an important one, in terms of improving the Phillies' lead over the Giants in the standings to 3.0 games. Now they'll aim to repeat the trick on Tuesday night and clinch the series with a game to spare.

In the category of 'perception is reality', what do you want to focus on when reviewing this year by Taijuan Walker? On the one hand, a 4.03 ERA and 4.68 FIP are not exactly going to stand out or impress you. At the same time however, Walker is doing what it takes, with a team-leading 2.5 WAR among pitchers and a career-high 13 wins. Last time out versus the Twins he allowed a trio of hits and three runs in five innings, along with a season-high six walks.
Tuesday night will be a special occasion for Kyle Harrison, with him scheduled to make his Major League debut. As the Giants' top prospect and ranked 18th overall in MLB.com's top 100, there's a lot of hype surrounding the southpaw. Harrison's ceiling is such, that he's projected as a future staff ace. However, it should be noted he has ongoing location issues, contributing towards only once completing five innings so far in 2023.
