The Philadelphia Phillies (62-36) have one more shot at winning a game against the Pittsburgh Pirates (50-48) this weekend as they send rookie Tyler Phillips to the hill at PNC Park to try and get the job done on Sunday.

After blowing a very winnable game on Friday, the bats were silenced on Saturday in an uninspiring 4-1 loss as the Phils dropped their third game in a row. Even with star catcher J.T. Realmuto back from the IL, the finally complete lineup didn't put up much of a fight against Pirates starter Luis L. Ortiz.

Phillies starter Cristopher Sanchez did his part, however. The lefty held the Bucs to two runs on eight hits over 5 2/3 innings but took the loss after his teammates managed four hits — one being Bryce Harper's massive ninth-inning solo home run into the Allegheny River.

  • Tyler Phillips (1-0) will make his second career start for the Phillies today. The 26-year-old righty earned his first MLB win in his debut start against the Athletics before the break. He was charged with four runs on six hits while striking out five in six innings in that effort.
  • Marco Gonzales (1-0) will take the ball for the Pirates. The 32-year-old left-hander has a 2.45 ERA and 1.23 WHIP in four starts after missing three months with a strained forearm. The veteran went five innings in his return from the IL before the break, holding the White Sox to one run on seven hits with four strikeouts.
