The Philadelphia Phillies (8-7) head into Sunday looking to secure the series win over the Pittsburgh Pirates (10-5). After Saturday's dramatic ninth-inning walk-off 4-3 victory, courtesy of the much-maligned Nick Castellanos, Phillies fans hope the team is getting their vibes back and can go on a run through the rest of this homestand.

First, the Phillies have one more battle with the Pirates to close out the four-game set at Citizens Bank Park. With a win, the Phillies will go two games over .500 for the first time this season and could possibly tie the Atlanta Braves at the top of the NL East if the division rival loses. A win today would also even Philadelphia's home record at 5-5.

Phillies vs. Pirates probable pitchers, April 14

  • Zack Wheeler (0-2) will hope for better luck and more support from his team when he takes the ball on Sunday. He comes in with a 1.89 ERA and 0.89 WHIP with 20 strikeouts over 19 innings in three starts this season — unfortunately, he still hasn't picked up a win. The Phillies ace went 1-0 in two starts against the Pirates last year. He allowed two runs on seven hits while striking out 16 in 10 2/ 3 innings of work.
  • The 28-year-old Mitch Keller (1-1) will start for the Pirates in the series finale. He has had a rough start to his season, with a 5.29 ERA and 1.59 WHIP in three games, but had a strong outing with nine strikeouts on Monday against the Detroit Tigers. The Phillies saw Keller twice in 2023. The right-hander gave up four runs on nine hits, struck out 14 batters, and walked five over 11 2/3 innings.
