Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. New York Mets, September 21
The lineups are set as the Phillies try to clinch the NL East against the Mets at Citi Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies (92-62) clinched their playoff spot on Friday and need just one win to clinch the NL East title when they face off against the New York Mets (85-69) on Saturday in Game 3 of their four-game set at Citi Field.
Friday's massive 12-2 win was a pleasant turnaround after getting blasted 10-6 on Thursday. Starter Cristopher Sánchez went five innings and gave up two runs on three hits but walked an uncharacteristic five Mets batters while striking out seven. He minimized the damage, giving up two first-inning runs and gave his teammates a chance to battle back, which they did in spades.
After posting single runs in the second and third frames, the Phillies bats exploded for six in the fourth, punctuated by an Alec Bohm three-run home run. They tacked on four more runs while Orion Kerkering, Matt Strahm, Tyler Gilbert and Jeff Hoffman shut down the Mets over four clean innings.
