The Philadelphia Phillies (85-56) will look to secure the series win on Saturday after a thorough 16-2 thrashing of the Miami Marlins (52-89) on Friday night. The Phillies’ sixth straight win and 12th in their last 16 games moved them 1.0 game ahead of the Los Angeles Dodgers for sole possession of top spot in the NL and shrunk their magic number to 14.

After Marlins starter Edward Cabrera was scratched with migraine-like symptoms before the game, the Phillies took full advantage of the home team's impromptu bullpen day, racking up a season-high 16 runs on a season-high 22 hits. Every starter in the Phillies lineup registered at least one hit in the embarrassing rout. Trea Turner and Kyle Schwarber (again) both homered and Johan Rojas had three doubles on the night.

Zack Wheeler picked up his 14th win and barely broke a sweat in this one. He cruised through six innings, giving up one run (on an unlucky ground ball that deflected off of second base) on two hits while striking out seven.

The only bad news that came from Friday’s win was catcher J.T. Realmuto leaving the game after fouling a ball off of his left knee. Luckily, it seems like just a bruise. He had today already lined up as a scheduled day off, so we will hopefully see him back in the lineup on Sunday.
