The Philadelphia Phillies (84-56) go for their sixth straight win and second in a row against the Miami Marlins (52-88) when the two NL East rivals face off in the second game of their four-game series on Friday night at loanDepot Park.

The Phillies got a solid five-inning effort from Ranger Suárez on Thursday, who blanked the Marlins on three hits and a pair of walks with four strikeouts despite having reduced velocity. After the game, the Phillies didn't seem concerned about the roughly two-mile-an-hour drop in velocity on Suárez's fastball.

Second baseman Bryson Stott led the way on offense with a 2-for-4 night. He knocked in the game's first run with a soft single in the opening frame and added on with a solo home run in the sixth that led to three more runs in the inning.

With the win, the Phillies moved into a tie with the Los Angeles Dodgers for the best record in baseball, but hold the tiebreaker for the top seed in the NL. Their magic number dropped to 15, with the Atlanta Braves losing and moving into tie with the New York Mets 8.0 games behind the Phillies.
