The Philadelphia Phillies (53-27) head home to close out June with a four-game series against the Miami Marlins (28-52) at Citizens Bank Park. After taking the series against the Detroit Tigers with a 6-2 win on Wednesday, the Phillies will look to win their fourth series in a row against their NL East rivals.
Wednesday's victory, unfortunately, came with the discouraging shoulder injury to Spencer Turnbull, who was finally back in the rotation for Taijuan Walker. Brandon Marsh broke out to lead the offensive charge, going 4-for-4 with his seventh home run and four RBI.
Coming off a series loss to the Kansas City Royals, the Marlins are 5-5 in their last 10 games and trail the Phillies by 25.0 games in the division. The Phillies will defend their 31-12 record at home, while the Marlins bring their 12-25 road record into what will surely be a boisterous Bank this weekend. The Phillies took two of three in Miami in May.
Phillies vs. Marlins probable pitchers, June 27
- Zack Wheeler (9-4) draws the series opener start for the Phillies. He brings a 2.73 ERA and 0.96 WHIP into his 17th start of the season. The Phillies ace was spectacular in his last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks, holding them to one run on two hits while striking out eight over seven innings of pure dominance.
- Trevor Rogers (1-8) will take the hill for the Marlins. The 26-year-old lefty is having another disappointing season, with a 4.90 ERA and 1.55 WHIP in 15 starts. Rogers faced the Phillies on May 10 and only lasted 3 1/3 innings. Phillies hitters knocked him around for five runs (four earned) on nine hits.
