The Philadelphia Phillies (9-8) will attempt to secure the series win on Tuesday after walking off the visiting Colorado Rockies (4-13) on Monday night, 2-1 in extra innings. The Phillies' bats were quiet yet again, this time against Rockies starter Cal Quantrill who held them to a single run on four hits over six innings.

The Phillies got one extra-base hit on Trea Turner's double in the second inning. He was brought home by Bryce Harper's RBI single. And that's all the run support they gave starter Aaron Nola, who pitched a gem. The right-hander dominated the Rockies lineup, pitching into the eighth inning. He finished his night with nine strikeouts through 7 1/3, giving up just four hits and one solo home run.

José Alvarado, Jeff Hoffman (and his wild tackle tag at home plate in the ninth) and Seranthony Domínguez held the line out of the bullpen and gave Cristian Pache the opportunity to walk it off in the bottom of the 10th. Pache, who pinch-ran for Kyle Schwarber in the eighth, knocked a single to right field to bring Bryson Stott in from third base with two outs.

  • Manager Rob Thomson will send Ranger Suárez (2-0) to the mound today. The left-hander has been brilliant in his three starts in the young season, posting a 2.65 ERA and minuscule 0.71 WHIP with 19 strikeouts in 17 innings. Last time out, against the Pirates, he went six shutout frames, giving up only two hits while striking out eight. Suárez faced the Rockies once in 2023 and it didn't go well. He only lasted four innings after giving up three runs on seven hits while striking out four.
  • Another lefty, Austin Gomber (0-0), gets the ball for the Rockies. The 30-year-old has made three starts this season and comes into this game with a 4.91 ERA and 1.64 WHIP after posting a quality start in his last outing against the Arizona Diamondbacks. He gave up two runs on six hits in six innings but only struck out four. Last season, Gomber took a no-decision in his lone start against the Phillies, going 6 2/3 with five hits, three runs and six strikeouts.
