The Philadelphia Phillies (15-9) finally had their winning streak cut off at seven games last night with a clunker of an 8-1 loss against the Cincinnati Reds (13-10).

Phillies starter Cristopher Sánchez finally ran into trouble he couldn't pitch himself out of, not that he received much help from his defense. He lasted three innings, walking three and striking out three, but only one of the five runs the Reds scored against him was earned. Yikes.

Edmundo Soda, Alec Bohm and Cristian Pache all committed one error — although Pache's was a throw that hit a runner at home plate. After back-to-back doubles by J.T. Realmuto and Alec Bohm in the top of the first, the offense couldn't muster much of anything against Reds starter Andrew Abbott and the bullpen.

With the loss, the Phillies gave up a game to the Atlanta Braves and now sit 2.0 games back of the NL East lead.

He held the Reds to one run on three hits with seven strikeouts in five innings at the beginning of April.
  • Nick Lodolo (2-0) gets the ball for the Reds tonight, bringing a sparkling 0.75 ERA and 0.75 WHIP into action today. He has only made two starts, but he has been phenomenal so far.
