The Philadelphia Phillies (15-8) got yet another incredible performance from the starting rotation in a 7-0 win in the opener of their four-game series against the Cincinnati Reds (12-10) on Monday. Ranger Suárez didn't quite get through a complete game like last week's gem, even though he could have, in pacing the Phillies to their seventh straight win.

Manager Rob Thomson opted to save his starter some wear and tear, removing him after seven innings and 88 pitches of two-hit, five-strikeout shutout magnificence. Gregory Soto and Jeff Hoffman pitched clean innings to close it out.

The Phillies scored a run in the second, third, fourth and fifth innings, which was more than enough offense. Even still, call-up Kody Clemens, filling in for Bryce Harper, mashed a three-run home run in the top of the ninth. He also had a double earlier in the game in his 2024 season debut.
