The Philadelphia Phillies (11-8) will continue their season-long 10-game homestand on Friday night by welcoming the struggling Chicago White Sox (3-15) to Citizens Bank Park. The Phillies are 2.0 games back of the NL East-leading Atlanta Braves heading into today's action.

To say that the White Sox are struggling is an understatement. The punching bag of the AL Central enter this series having just snapped a six-game losing streak and sit dead last in Major League Baseball. They have a league-worst -54 run differential and are just 1-6 on the road.

The Phillies are coming off a series sweep of the Colorado Rockies and head into the weekend 5-2 on the homestand, which has included a pair of walk-off victories and Ranger Suárez's incredible complete-game shutout on Tuesday.

Phillies vs. White Sox probable pitchers, April 19

  • Spencer Turnbull (1-0) will make his fourth start of the season in the series opener. The right-hander, who has filled in the fifth spot admirably, brings a stellar 1.80 ERA and 0.93 WHIP into action against the White Sox. His last start was the roughest, as he gave up three runs on four hits against the Pittsburgh Pirates while striking out three over four innings.
  • Garrett Crochet (1-2) has been a pleasant surprise for Chicago this season. The left-handed reliever-turned-starter carries a 3.57 ERA and 0.84 WHIP into Friday's start. The Cincinnati Reds got to him in his last outing, scoring five runs on four hits and three walks — although he still struck out 10 in the losing effort. He now has 31 strikeouts to just four walks in 22 2/3 innings this season.
