Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs Chicago Cubs, July 4
The Phillies go for the sweep in an Independence Day series finale matinee at Wrigley Field!
The Philadelphia Phillies (57-29) wrap up their three-game series with the Chicago Cubs (39-48) in an Independence Day matinee at Wrigley Field. After winning the first two games of the series, the NL East-leading Phillies are looking for a sweep on Thursday afternoon at Wrigley Field.
Things are coming up Phillies everywhere you look. On top of the Wednesday night 5-3 win, third baseman Alec Bohm and shortstop Trea Turner were named NL All-Star starters before the game. They'll join first baseman Bryce Harper on the field at Globe Life Field in the July 16 MLB All-Star Game, assuming he's healthy.
Bohm and Turner powered the Phillies to their MLB-leading 57th win after learning the All-Star news, with each scoring a pair of runs and Bohm swatting a two-run home run. Zack Wheeler took a no-decision, leaving the game with a 3-2 lead after six innings. Matt Strahm picked up the win after giving up the tying run in the seventh, but the bats picked him up scoring two in the top of the eighth. Orion Kerkering and José Alvarado closed the door in the eighth and ninth.
