Philadelphia Phillies probable pitchers & starting lineups vs. Arizona Diamondbacks, August 9
The lineups are set as Zack Wheeler and the Phillies take on the Diamondbacks at Chase Field.
The Philadelphia Phillies (69-46) will look to secure the season series against the Arizona Diamondbacks (63-53) when they take the field for Game 2 of their series at Chase Field on Friday night. The Phillies are starting to look more like themselves again after taking the series opener on Thursday by a 6-4 score.
Don't look now, but the Phillies have won three in a row and four of their last five games. Starter Kolby Allard, in what was likely his last start with Taijuan Walker on the way back, kept them in last night's game long enough until the bats woke up. He held the D'backs to one run on six hits over five innings and picked up the win.
The offense got rolling in the sixth, plating four in a two-out rally. Celebrating 10 years of MLB service time on Thursday, catcher J.T. Realmuto broke out of his slump. He popped a solo home run — his first since May 23 — in the seventh, and doubled and scored in the ninth.

- Zack Wheeler (11-5) will take the mound for the Phillies. The right-hander comes in with a 2.77 ERA and 0.98 WHIP. He thoroughly dominated the Mariners in his last start, throwing eight shutout innings and giving up just two hits while recording nine strikeouts.
- Ryne Nelson (8-6) will counter for the D'backs. After an impressive July, in which the 26-year-old right-hander posted a 2.41 ERA and 0.96 WHIP, he had a rougher start to August. He went five innings against the Pirates, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out seven.
