Order Philadelphia Phillies City Connect gear now
The Philadelphia Phillies officially revealed their new Nike City Connect uniforms for the 2024 season on Friday, one week before the team will debut them on the field.
The design was leaked a coupe of times over the winter, but that didn't slow down the hype for the players, who all seemed to love the new uniforms.
“We wanted to do something outside the box, but something that connected to the city,” Phillies vice president of business affairs Howard Smith told MLB.com. “We’re honoring the city through the lens of the city flag. People have to visually say, I get it. Now, when the narrative is told and all the storytelling is out there; the influence of the city flag, they’ll understand it.”
Fans will obviously notice the blue and yellow motif first, as those colors are new for the franchise. Looking beyond that, there is a Liberty Bell cap that features the city skyline inside.
The new font was developed by Nike specifically for the Phillies City Connect uniforms and it features small cracks in each letter - an homage to the Liberty Bell. The right sleeve sports a 'City of Brotherly Love' patch and the tagline for the uniforms is 'Unapologetically Philly.'
