Giants vs. Phillies prediction and odds for Wednesday, Aug. 23
The Phillies look to complete a series sweep.
The Philadelphia Phillies continue to find their National League champion form in the second half of this season.
Offseason signing Trea Turner hit a walk off single to beat the Giants 4-3 on Tuesday, creating more separation between the two teams in the heated NL wild card race. The team will now lean on trade deadline acquisition Michael Lorenzen to carry the team to a sweep.
How should we bet this matchup with the slumping Giants countering with Alex Cobb?
Here are the odds and our best bet:

Giants vs. Phillies prediction and pick
These two teams continue to be rated as similar teams, but that's not the case.
In the month of August the Phillies are the second best team at the plate in terms of OPS while the Giants are 28th. San Francisco's bats have gone cold at the wrong team as the team is now outside the playoff picture while the Phillies are starting to look like a Pennant contender yet again.
Lorenzen came back to Earth following a no-hitter two starts ago, allowing six earned runs in three innings last start. However, I'm going to look at the big picture of Lorenzen's stellar season, an All-Star campaign for the former reliever.
He has posted a 3.57 ERA in part due to a ton of soft contact, allowing a sub-10% home run to fly ball rate and limiting his walks below three per nine innings.
I'm going to stick with what's working and take the Phillies to complete the series sweep.
