Diamondbacks vs. Phillies prediction and odds for NLCS Game 1
Can the Phillies stay hot at home?
Two Wild Card teams have surged into the NLCS and are four wins away from a World Series berth.
The Philadelphia Phillies are looking to recapture the same magic as last season with a late season push into the Fall Classic, this year going against the Arizona Diamondbacks. The Phillies will likely start Zack Wheeler in Game 1 as the Diamondbacks are set to counter with Zac Gallen, the team's NL Cy Young contender.

Diamondbacks vs. Phillies prediction and pick
The Phillies are rightful favorites in this series, feeding off a frenzied home field at Citizen's Bank Park and bolstering a deep lineup that is littered with power. The Phillies have the highest OPS in its six postseason games (.892), but the Diamondbacks are right behind in its five games at (.877), second in the big leagues.
Both teams teed off on divisional rivals in the prior round, but I trust the Phillies bats to generate run scoring chances more, the team had 10 more hits and seven more doubles than Arizona despite playing only one more postseason game.
Further, I'll take the more proven postseason pitcher in Wheeler, who allowed two earned runs in over six innings of worse against the Braves in his lone postseason start. Across eight playoff starts, Wheeler has a 2.59 ERA with a 51-8 strikeout-to-walk ratio.
Gallen was strong in his playoff debut last week, pitching over five innings of two run baseball, but I have my concerns about this Diamondbacks bullpen in a hostile Citizen's Bank Park holding up in the back half of this game. As a unit, Arizona had a 4.22 bullpen ERA this regular season, bottom half of the league, and could struggle to keep it rolling late.
It's pricey but I like the Phillies to take Game 1.
