Update 5:02 p.m. ET: The White Sox finally provided an update after almost four hours, with an estimated start time of 5:45 p.m. ET.
The Philadelphia Phillies have one game left before Thursday's trade deadline, and thanks to Mother Nature, it looks like there's a chance they won't be able to get it played today. With Wednesday's series finale against the Chicago White Sox scheduled as an afternoon affair, a rain delay is holding things up on the South Side.
Whether the Phillies will be able to play the final game at Rate Field looks dicey, with our friends at The Weather Channel forecasting thunderstorms and rain throughout the day in Chicago.
Phillies vs. White Sox Rain Delay Details: Weather Updates, Start Time
With an original start time of 2:10 p.m. ET, the tarp stayed on the field, and the game was delayed before the Phillies and White Sox got a single pitch thrown.
The rain delay was officially announced at 1:21 p.m. ET on the White Sox's social media accounts. At this time, there isn't a tentative start time, so we'll have to hang tight for an update.
"Due to approaching weather, the start of today’s game will be delayed," the White Sox posted. "We will provide more information as we receive it."

Phillies vs. White Sox Rain Delay: Phillies trying to win series ahead of Thursday's trade deadline
With the minutes ticking away ahead of the 6 p.m. ET deadline on Thursday, the Phillies have yet to make a move to improve the roster. They've been getting a first-hand look at one of their rumored outfield trade deadline targets this week, per MLB.com's Todd Zolecki. White Sox outfielder Luis Robert Jr. is on several teams' radar.
The talented yet injury-prone player showed up in Monday's series opener. He belted an opposite-field two-run home run off Cristopher Sánchez, which is no small feat. He also made an impressive sliding catch in center field, helping the lowly White Sox take the 6-2 win.

The Phillies bounced back on Tuesday, with a 6-3 victory powered by homers from Kyle Schwarber (obviously) and Brandon Marsh. They rode a much-needed strong seven-inning outing by lefty Jesús Luzardo.
Wednesday's pitching matchup, if we get to see it, will feature Phillies veteran right-hander Taijuan Walker (3-5, 3.84 ERA) up against opener Tyler Alexander (4-9, 4.36 ERA) in a bullpen game for the White Sox.
Walker is coming off a 5 2/3-inning effort against the New York Yankees on the weekend. He allowed three runs (which all came on solo home runs) on six hits with three strikeouts in the Phillies' 12-5 win on Friday.
