Update 8:02 p.m. ET: The game has been scheduled to start at 8:30 p.m. ET.
The Philadelphia Phillies are in a good position at the moment in the NL East, but things haven't come easily for them. They have won six of their last 10 games, but are coming off a pretty brutal loss to the Cardinals on Wednesday. Hosting a bottom-dwelling team like the Pirates would normally be exactly what the doctor ordered, but rough weather in the area of Citizen's Bank Park seems to have had other plans.
Instead of watching Ranger Suarez try to get his season back on track against Pittsburgh's Andrew Heaney, we will have to wait as this game is officially in a rain delay and may be for a while if the forecast is any indication.
***UPDATE***
For once, the forecast was pretty spot on and this game will start at 8:30 PM EST.
Phillies vs. Pirates Rain Delay 5/16 - Details of when the game is expected to start
If one takes a look at the radar tonight for Philly, one sees a big wave of storms coming through the area. The bad news is that it will take a while (the radar's current guess says at least 8:30 PM EST) for the storm to pass.
The good news is that there doesn't appear to be any weather coming behind this system which means once the game starts, the game is very unlikely to be impacted by weather again tonight (at least one hopes).
So far, there are no exact details of when the game is expected to start and the rain hasn't really even arrived yet, so you might want to get comfortable. We will keep this post updated with details on what the weather is doing and when a game start time is released by the team. One hopes that this delay won't carry on too long as the last thing the Phillies want is to play a really late game and accidentally lose a game to a pretty dreadful Pirates team because they are tired.
