Update 7:14 p.m. ET: First pitch for tonight’s game between the Phillies and Pirates is tentatively scheduled for 8:00 p.m. ET.
The last time the Philadelphia Phillies and Pittsburgh Pirates got together in May, the Phillies began their nine-game winning streak with a three-game sweep of the Buccos in Philly. With the return leg of their season series scheduled to start on Friday at PNC Park in Pittsburgh, they'll have to wait a bit longer, thanks to Mother Nature.
Scattered rain and storms in the Pittsburgh area have caused the series opener between the Phillies and Pirates at PNC Park on Friday to be delayed.
Phillies vs. Pirates Rain Delay Details: Weather Updates, Start Time
The Phillies and Pirates didn't even get on the field, with the tarp remaining on the infield, and the game was delayed before a single pitch was thrown.
The Pirates officially announced the rain delay at 6:20 p.m ET on their social media accounts. Unfortunately, they didn't provide a tentative restart time, so we'll have to hang tight for an update.
The start of tonight’s game will delayed.

Phillies vs. Pirates Rain Delay: Phillies trying to get back in win column
The Phillies are coming off a disappointing stretch of play that saw them get swept by the Milwaukee Brewers at home and then just lose two of three to the Toronto Blue Jays in depressing fashion. Lefty Jesús Luzardo had a second straight disastrous outing on Thursday, per Jordan Horrobin of MLB.com, leading to a 9-1 loss at Rogers Centre.
The Pirates haven't been doing much better, with two straight series losses and an 8-2 loss to the Houston Astros on Thursday, per MLB.com's John Perrotto. They're 4-6 in their last 10 games and have fallen to 23-40 on the year, 16.5 games back of first in the NL Central.
Friday's pitching matchup will feature Phillies veteran Joe Ross (2-1, 4.34 ERA) opening up a bullpen game for the visitors, while former Phillies hurler Bailey Falter (4-3, 3.14 ERA) will toe the rubber for the Pirates.
While we'd certainly like to see the Phillies and Pirates get this game finished tonight, for now, we'll just have to wait and see if the weather cooperates and allows them to get this game in.
