You will struggle to find any team in baseball that is hotter than the Philadelphia Phillies are right now. All of a sudden, what looked like an insurmountable gap between themselves and the Braves in the NL East now not only seems able to be overcome, but perhaps even likely to be given the way both teams are playing right now. Following winning three straight over the Nationals followed be a series opening win against the rival Mets, Philly's quest to keep the good times rolling has, unfortunately, reached a weather-related obstacle on Saturday.
The Phillies are sending Tim Mayza to the mound as an opener to take on Mets starter Christian Scott, who is coming off a rough-ish outing against the Cardinals on June 11. On paper, it seems like a great opportunity for the Phillies to kick a division rival while they are down, but rain moved into the area and we are officially in a rain delay.
**UPDATE: 4:43 PM EST**
Assuming the forecast holds, it does indeed look like this will be a delay in the range of about an hour. For the moment, the plan is for this match-up between the Phillies and Mets to get started a 5:20 PM EST, so go ahead and make your concession runs now.
Today’s game is scheduled to start at 5:20 PM.

Phillies vs. Mets, 6/27/26: When will the game start?
Honestly, it is crummy luck that this game got delayed at all, as there was only a 20% chance or so of rain at the start of the day. However, that one in five roll came and so did the rain. The most recent forecast has the Queens area being pretty rainy for about an hour after the original game start time. After that, the odds improve considerably, but are still pretty random given how scattered this storm system is. Plan for a delay of a little more than one hour, but anything more than two hours appears to be extremely unlikely (but not impossible).
We will keep this post updated as more information becomes available regarding the rain delay, including any announced start times. The weather looks pretty random at the moment, so you may want to just sit tight and keep regular check on the latest updates, because this one feels a bit hard to predict.
