Fan who caught Kyle Schwarber's 300th home run has golden opportunity on the table

Now with a perfect reason to jump bandwagons, new baseball fan Gabriel DelRazo could wind up with more than just a signed bat.

Kyle Schwarber hit his 300th career home run on Monday in perfect Kyle Schwarber fashion. And when he crushed his very Schwarber-esque 466-foot blast off the facing of the right field upper deck at Coors Field, it wasn't a Philadelphia Phillies fans who ended up with the milestone baseball.

It was a Colorado Rockies fan who snagged the ball as it careened down to the first level of the outfield seats. But even after cashing the meaningful ball in for some signed memorabilia, new baseball fan Gabriel DelRazo has a chance to make a change for the better and pick a new team to cheer for.

Kyle Schwarber's 300th home run ball gives new Rockies fan perfect excuse to jump bandwagons

Being in a visiting ballpark, seeing a fan of the opposing team wind up with the souvenir ball wouldn't be surprising in most places. However, with the Rockies playing some horrid baseball this season and the stands littered with Phillies fans, the odds were just as good that a visiting fan would end up with the 300th home run ball.

But it was DelRazo who came away the victor amid a throng of Phillies fans clamoring for the prize. He exchanged the ball for a Schwarber-autographed bat — not a bad haul for a new baseball fan. According to The Athletic's Matt Gelb, DelRazo only recently got into baseball.

Unfortunately for the poor guy, he picked the now 8-29 Rockies, who have already fired long-time manager Bud Black, as his team. It's not too late to change allegiances.

While the choice to root for an organization considered to be behind the times (subscription required), as noted by The Athletic's Cody Stavenhagen, is most likely a geographical one for DelRazo, there's no rule saying that he must stick with the Rockies. His experience on Monday and his now very personal connection to the Phillies is a perfect excuse for him to jump bandwagons and become a member of the rabid fan base of a team that took over the top spot in the National League after Monday's win.

The Phillies have been contenders since bursting onto the scene with their wild run to the World Series in 2022. They haven't achieved the same level of postseason success over the last two playoff runs, but they're considered a top MLB team. While every team comes with its frustrations, no matter how good it is, the Phillies, in all honesty, play in a different league than the Rockies.

And new baseball fan Gabriel DelRazo is more than welcome to join the Phillies faithful.
