The Philadelphia Phillies have had quite the regular season. They avoided any kind of sluggish second half, and also won the NL East in convincing fashion for the second consecutive year. They now sit at 95-65 with two games left to go.
Before their highly anticipated postseason run gets underway, the Phillies are looking to make a little history first. They're seeking to break the franchise record for most series wins during a regular season.
Phillies can put final touch on a special regular season with one more series win
The Phillies currently sit at 34 series wins in 2025, which is tied with the coveted 2011 team for the most in one regular season. They took care of the Minnesota Twins on Friday night 3-1, so now just need one more win to secure that 35th series victory. They're also looking to win their 10th straight series at home, dating back to July 21-23.
The Phillies were the definition of consistency throughout the 2025 season. There were moments of frustration to go along with losing players to suspension or injury, but this team has taken on adversity and prevailed. It also helps that they're currently experiencing an all-time Phillies season by Kyle Schwarber (subscription required). He currently leads the NL in home runs with 56 and all of MLB with 132 RBIs.
The team has also rediscovered their mojo at home, a feeling that had been missing until their World Series window opened in 2022. There's a reason they will finish 2025 with the best record at home this season. They've turned Citizens Bank Park into a nightmare environment for opposing teams, with consistent sell-out crowds and a playoff atmosphere that compares to some of the most intimidating stadiums in the country, regardless of sport.
One win on either Saturday or Sunday will then have 2025 stand alone as arguably the best season this franchise has ever had. They may have fallen short of the franchise-record 102 wins by that 2011 team, but there are a lot of similarities to draw from both clubs. The Phillies in 2011 went on to win the division by 13 games, the same as the current lead today. They had the best rotation in all of baseball back then, and the same argument could be made today. Both also had a true belief in being able to win a World Series championship. Phillies fans just hope this season’s team will be the one to get the job done.
