Since signing with the Philadelphia Phillies prior to the 2022 season, Kyle Schwarber has solidified himself as an integral part of the club's everyday lineup.

The 31-year-old's 2024 season was his best statically since 2021 when he split time between the Washington Nationals and Boston Red Sox. The Phillies will need him to continue to pace the team in the slugging stat categories if they plan on contending with some of the National League powerhouses.

Schwarber has hit 131 home runs in 465 games as a member of the Phillies. He has also drove in 302 runs and has averaged an OPS of .832 in that span.

As the 2025 season approaches, the club will look to their power-hitting leadoff man to continue to create runs. Barring any unforeseen circumstances, there should not be much doubt that Schwarber can replicate his previous three seasons in Philadelphia.

After all, his 2024 was arguably his most impressive since joining the organization. While his 38 long balls stand as his lowest home run total in red pinstripes, other stats improved. The designated hitter struck out under 200 times for the first time in his Phillies' career. His slash line was another area of improvement as he had his highest batting average (.248) and his highest on-base percentage (.366) as a Phillie. Also to be mentioned, Schwarber set an MLB record bashing 14 leadoff home runs last season.

Perhaps the most impressive numbers came against left-handed pitching. During the 2024 campaign, Schwarber slashed .300/.407/.491 against southpaws. Those numbers are all well above his career average in that split category.

FanGraphs' Steamer projections predict another solid year for the Phillies' power leader in 2025. The site projects that Schwarber will play another 150 games, lead the team in home runs once again with 40 long balls, cross the plate 106 times, and knock in 87 runs. Steamer predicts that he will hit a bit below his 2024 average (.227) and finish with a slightly lower OPS (.821) next season.

Even if his numbers do dip a little bit, Schwarber's production and off-the-field-leadership are invaluable to this current Phillies' roster. Look for him to continue to play consistently — mainly as the team's designated hitter. Where he hits in the lineup is often up for debate. Whether he is placed in the leadoff spot again or if manager Rob Thomson decides to move him to a more power-driven spot in the middle of the order, his bat will be counted on to be one of the leaders of this offense.

Kyle Schwarber needs to continue to set the pace for the Phillies' offense

The Phillies' offense seems to go as Schwarber goes. Last season, the slugger played in 150 of the team's games. In those contests, the Phillies went 88-62. In the wins, Schwarber posted a .998 OPS — and hit 32 of his home runs — as opposed to .626 in the losses.

Schwarber has led the team in runs and home runs each year since signing his four-year deal. He has also led the offense in RBI twice and finished just two short of Nick Castellanos in 2023.

It would not be surprising to see the 2014 first round pick lead the club again in many of the major power and run creating categories in 2025.

The power-hitting lefty is entering his final season under contract with the Phillies. It would benefit both the player and the team if he were to go off and have another productive season. Should he continue to lead the team on and off the field, it may be beneficial for the Phillies to think about extending their top run producer. That's a conversation for a different day.
