The Philadelphia Phillies (13-11) and New York Mets (17-7) will take the field for the series finale at Citi Field on Wednesday afternoon. The Phillies are looking to salvage the final game and avoid an embarrassing sweep at the hands of their NL East rivals. After dropping Monday's opener 5-4 — a score that flattered the Phillies — the offense was a no-show again in Tuesday's 5-1 loss.

To make matters worse, left-hander Cristopher Sánchez left the game after two innings with "left forearm soreness." According to MLB.com's Todd Zolecki, the team said that initial exams indicated no structural damage, but we'll have to wait for more testing to know for sure.

In other injury news, utility player Weston Wilson has been activated from the 10-day IL before today's matinée and slots in with a start in left field. He began the year on the shelf with an oblique injury. To make room for Wilson on the 26-man roster, Kody Clemens was designated for assignment.

On a three-game losing skid, the Phillies trail the Mets by four games heading into today's action. They'll get a much-needed off day on Thursday before a weekend series in the Windy City with the Chicago Cubs.
