The Philadelphia Phillies (38-28) and Chicago Cubs (40-26) continue their three-game series at Citizens Bank Park on Tuesday after a massive win for the good guys on Monday. The Phillies got back in the win column with a dramatic 4-3 11-inning walk-off victory with some help from surprising sources.
Despite J.T. Realmuto having a key hit, and Brandon Marsh providing the winning knock, it was recent call-up Otto Kemp who was the story of the night. The undrafted rookie picked up his first major league hit, and then tacked on two more as an instrumental part of the Phillies' extra-inning comeback, per MLB.com's Paul Casella.
The win over the NL Central-leading Cubs snapped a five-game losing streak and gave the Phillies just their second win in their last 11 games. Starter Zack Wheeler was as good as ever in his first start back from welcoming a new addition to his family, going six innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out seven.
The Phillies enter Tuesday four games back of the New York Mets in the NL East and will turn to another rookie, right-hander Mick Abel, to help start a new win streak.
