The Philadelphia Phillies (39-29) continue their homestand with a three-game series against the Toronto Blue Jays (38-30) at Citizens Bank Park.

The Phillies look like they might be turning things around after taking two of three games against the Chicago Cubs earlier in the week. Wednesday's big 7-2 win saw Jesús Luzardo fix his pitch-tipping issue and get back on track (phew!) and the bats wake up.

After their recent skid, the Phillies are 3-7 in their last 10 and trail the New York Mets by 5.5 games in the NL East. Conversely, the Blue Jays have won eight of their last 10 and five straight series, including the Phillies' visit to Toronto last week. Coming off a sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals, the Jays have climbed to within 4.5 games of the AL East lead and own the first AL Wild Card.

The Phillies lost two of three at Rogers Centre last week, although that series included the 9-1 loss in the finale, which saw Luzardo get lit up thanks to pitch-tipping. They'll look to build on their 21-13 record at home as they welcome Jeff Hoffman back to Philly for the first time.

  • Ranger Suárez (4-1, 2.70 ERA) will open the series for the Phillies. The lefty has a 1.13 WHIP through seven starts. Suárez has been absolutely dominant since his rough season debut, stringing together a run of six consecutive quality starts with a 1.36 ERA and 1.01 WHIP.
  • Kevin Gausman (5-4, 3.87 ERA) will counter for the Blue Jays. The 34-year-old right-hander has a 1.03 WHIP and 73 strikeouts in 76 2/3 innings over 13 starts. He hasn't looked quite as sharp recently, giving up six runs in 10 2/3 innings over his two June outings, but he does have 12 strikeouts.
