The holidays are in the rearview mirror, and the new year is upon us, bringing with it the promise of baseball merely weeks away. The Philadelphia Phillies have made their offseason moves in preparation for the season.
While there haven't been as many big-name deals as fans had been expecting/hoping for, the front office seems content with the roster. Although, there's still plenty of time for the Phillies to make additional moves before hitting the backfields.
Now that we can smell spring baseball, with training camps and spring training right around the corner, here are all the nitty gritty details fans should know about the Phillies' spring training in 2025.
Philadelphia Phillies 2025 spring training: Report dates, location, schedule
As is the usual tradition, pitchers and catchers will report to camp before position players. Some teams have already announced Feb. 10, as their reporting date, and the division rival New York Mets will have their pitchers and catchers report on Feb. 12. We don't have an exact date yet for the Phillies, but it's expected that pitchers and catchers will be in camp by Feb. 14.
If you're wondering about the position players, they usually have an official reporting date five days after pitchers and catchers (although many start trickling in beforehand).
Phillies 2025 spring training returns to Clearwater
The Phillies' spring training base is in Clearwater, Florida, as it has been since 1947. This year's training camp will be held at the Carpenter Complex, at the Paul Owens Training Facility and the David P. Montgomery Baseball Performance Center.
BayCare Ballpark will once again host the Phillies' spring training Grapefruit League games. The stadium seats 7,300, with a grass berm able to hold an additional 1,500 fans. BayCare Ballpark also plays home to the team's Single-A Clearwater Threshers affiliate during the minor league season.
Phillies 2025 spring training schedule
The Phillies' 2025 spring training schedule is already available. Their Grapefruit League action begins on Saturday, Feb. 22, with a 1:05 p.m. ET away game scheduled against the Detroit Tigers. Their first home game of the spring will come the following day when the Phillies host the Baltimore Orioles at 1:05 p.m. ET at BayCare Ballpark.
The Phillies will play 31 Grapefruit League games, wrapping up the schedule with a home game versus the Tampa Bay Rays on March 24 before heading north to Washington to open the regular season on March 27 against the Nationals.
The Phillies will also host their first Spring Breakout game on March 14 at 1:05 p.m. ET. Heading into its second year, this showcase will see top Phillies prospects face off against top prospects from the Pittsburgh Pirates system.
