The Philadelphia Phillies organization has many questions surrounding it after a late-season collapse and early exit in the Major League Baseball playoffs. One thing is for certain after the end-of-season press conference, the coaching staff and Dave Dombrowski will be back in 2025.

Dave Dombrowski isn’t planning on leaving anytime soon

The Phillies hired Dombrowski as president of baseball operations in December 2020. Dombrowski began his career in 1978 with the Chicago White Sox organization and has turned into one of the most well-respected and successful executives in baseball.

Dombrowski has enjoyed a lot of success in his first four years with the Phillies. The team has three playoff appearances and one National League pennant.

Dombrowski has made major moves throughout his tenure in the City of Brotherly Love helping the franchise to be contenders again after a long, painful drought. He’s also made important role-player moves to help shore up the roster such as when he acquired Edmundo Sosa in a trade with the St. Louis Cardinals.

The Phillies wasted no time keeping Dombrowski in Philadelphia, signing him to a contract extension through the 2027 season at the end of the 2022 season. The 68-year-old has no plans on leaving anytime soon.

There was speculation about whether Dombrowski would retire if the Phillies won the World Series in 2024. He shut the thought of that down in an appearance on SportsRadio 94 WIP before the playoffs began.

"No, I don't believe that's the case," Dombrowski said. "I don't know how many more years I'll do it. I have three more years on my contract, which I plan to fulfill. I enjoy what I'm doing. I'm very fortunate to work with a great organization, great ownership with John Middleton.”

The Phillies will look to put 2024 behind them and bounce back in 2025. Dombrowski has some work to do to fix the struggles the team faced down the stretch and contend for a World Series championship next year.
