The Spring Breakout games take place over the next couple of days, with the Philadelphia Phillies prospects facing the Minnesota Twins on March 19, followed by a showdown with the Toronto Blue Jays on March 21. Even though Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter will make the Phillies' Opening Day roster and Aidan Miller is sidelined with a back injury, Philadelphia still has several notable prospects looking to impress in these contests.
Many of the Phillies' prospects participating in the games are still multiple years away from making the majors. However, some will begin the year in Triple-A with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, or others could be promoted to Lehigh Valley by the end of the regular season. Which young players are worth watching in these two games?
3 Phillies prospects fans should pay attention to in the Spring Breakout games
Gage Wood, SP
Gage Wood garnered national attention when he pitched the third no-hitter in the history of the Men's College World Series, the first pitcher in 65 years in 2025 with the Arkansas Razorbacks. The Phillies selected him with the 26th overall pick in last year's draft.
The organization has hopes Wood can move fast through their minor league system, as Aaron Nola did. The Phillies selected the veteran right-hander in the 2014 MLB Draft, and he debuted in the majors the following year.
Despite Philadelphia's plan to limit his innings this year since he hasn't thrown much, Wood is worth paying attention to because of the trajectory they have in mind for him. He may be with the club as soon as next season, if all goes according to plan. He is scheduled to pitch in the Phillies' second Spring Breakout game on March 21 against the Blue Jays' prospects.
Dante Nori, OF
Dante Nori made a name for himself with Team Italy in the World Baseball Classic. He totaled an impressive .400/.435/.750 slash line with two home runs, six RBI, and a 1.185 OPS in 20 at-bats over six games.

Nori won't debut with the Phillies in 2026, but is a candidate to make the majors during 2027. He'll likely move up their prospect rankings further due to Justin Crawford and Andrew Painter making the Opening Day roster. If Aidan Miller debuts during the regular season, Nori will continue his ascent in the team's rankings of their top players. It should be an exciting year for the outfielder.
Felix Reyes, UTL
Felix Reyes isn't one of the Phillies' top-ranked prospects, according to MLB Pipeline. However, he turned heads in Double-A with the Reading Fightin' Phils last season. The native of Bani, Dominican Republic, has totaled three home runs, with a .303/.324/.606 slash line and a .930 OPS in 33 at-bats, continuing to make others notice him (subscription required) .
Ahead of Philadelphia's scheduled spring training game on March 19, Reyes leads all positional players with 11 RBI and is tied for the lead in home runs with Alec Bohm and Otto Kemp. The Phillies have used him primarily at first base, where he's played in 14 of 18 spring training contests this year.
It remains to be seen whether his future is with the organization, as Philadelphia doesn't have an immediate opening at first base. Reyes has played in left field, where the Phillies have struggled to find an impactful player since Kyle Schwarber transitioned to a full-time designated hitter role. As long as Reyes remains with the franchise, fans should follow his progression this year in Triple-A with the IronPigs.
