It has come to that time of year again for the Philadelphia Phillies where they will be looking to bolster their roster heading into their playoff run. To complete that task, the Phillies will need to sacrifice some of their top prospects in the process. For the most part, Andrew Painter and Aidan Miller are likely untouchables heading into the July 31 trade deadline.
As a result, which other Phillies prospects could be used as valuable trade chips this time around? Here, we will take a look at three candidates who could be entering their final days with the organization as the trade deadline draws near.
3 Phillies prospects entering their final days with team as trade deadline nears
Jean Cabrera, RHP
With the Phillies likely doing their best to hold on to both Painter and breakout pitcher Mick Abel (subscription required), per Charlotte Varnes of The Athletic, along with Moisés Chace being lost for the season due to Tommy John surgery, it makes the Phillies' No. 10 MLB Pipeline prospect Jean Cabrera a prime candidate to be moved for teams looking for young pitching help.
After all, Cabrera is coming off a solid 2024 minor league campaign in which he posted a 6-5 record with a 3.80 ERA and 1.21 WHIP with 110 strikeouts in 106 2/3 total innings over 20 appearances that included 19 starts. In doing so, the 23-year-old right-hander was named the Phillies’ breakout prospect of the 2024 season.
This year, Cabrera has continued his excellence at Double-A Reading, compiling a 4-5 record, 3.63 ERA, 1.23 WHIP, and 90 strikeouts in 96 2/3 innings over 18 starts. At his current rate of development, he could see the majors in just a year or two. But with the Phillies focus on winning right now, Cabrera would be the perfect trade chip for them to utilize to steer teams away from Painter and Abel.
What a performance from Jean Cabrera👏

Gabriel Rincones Jr., OF
Among the Phillies top prospects who might be close to MLB-ready, Gabriel Rincones Jr. would fall under that category. As a third-round selection by Philadelphia in the 2022 MLB Draft, Rincones has already managed to ascend four minor league levels all the way to Triple-A in under three years. With the solid combination of power and speed, he has the ability to develop into a consistent 20-home run/30-steal man as a major leaguer, though his hitting for average may still require a little bit of work.
So far in 2025 with the Lehigh Valley IronPigs, Rincones has amassed a .221 average and .733 OPS, along with 50 runs scored, 13 doubles, 10 home runs, 45 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 82 games played. More importantly, he has developed some great patience at the plate, having drawn 55 walks already and is on pace to shatter his career high of 61 from his 2023 season. For prospective teams looking to add a young outfielder who can probably enter the big league lineup any moment now, Rincones would become one of the top trade targets from the Phillies farm system.

Justin Crawford, OF
Finally, if the Phillies are looking to land a huge piece to significantly boost their chances of winning it all this year, they will need to give up at least a top prospect of high quality. With the Phillies hoping to avoid moving either Painter or Miller, they will have no choice but to make their No. 3 prospect Justin Crawford available. Therefore, he becomes the most ideal candidate to fit that bill.
Crawford is coming off a strong 2024 minor league season in which he posted a stellar .313 average and .805 OPS, along with 79 runs scored, 25 doubles, four triples, nine home runs, 61 RBIs and 42 stolen bases in 110 games. By doing so, he took home the Paul Owens Award as the top Phillies minor league player in 2024.

This year, Crawford has continued to hit well even at the Triple-A level, compiling a .330 average and .848 OPS, with 58 runs scored, 18 doubles, three triples, three home runs, 31 RBIs and 31 stolen bases in 79 games. More significantly, he has drastically improved his ability to get on base even more by drawing already a career-high 44 walks and sporting a strong .412 on-base percentage as a result.
As one of the top prospects in the Phillies system with the greatest five-tool potential, along with many believing he could turn out to be just as good as his dad Carl or even better, Crawford becomes the most highly-coveted asset by opposing teams in any trade deal that the Phillies will engage in.
