Bryce Harper tells fans he wants to have a World Series parade in 2022

The Philadelphia Phillies honored Bryce Harper for his MVP season on Saturday, but he made his speech about so much more than himself.

Addressing a roaring crowd at Citizens Bank Park, Harper thanked the fans for their support (and criticism!) and whipped them into a frenzy when he ended his speech by saying he was ready for a World Series parade.

"“You guys, the fans, man.You guys make me feel at home every single day, I appreciate you guys so much, and the grind. You guys letting us know when we suck and when we’re really good.So I appreciate you guys so much, let’s have a great year, and uh, let’s go have a party on Broad Street!”"

For those who followed Harper’s MVP season last year, it’s not at all surprising that he used the ceremony today to make it about more than himself. When he won the award back in the fall, he wrote on Instagram that he was “Hungry” for more. He’s had an abundance of personal achievements and accolades in the first decade of his career, but now he’s angling for collective success.

The Phillies haven’t reached the postseason since their last division title in 2011, and only have two championships in franchise history. This year, their 140th season, feels like a great year to break the cycle.
