Bryce Harper is “really pushing” front office to land Kris Bryant, new report says it’s between Colorado Rockies and Philadelphia Phillies

When the lockout ended, I wondered if Philadelphia Phillies superstar and reigning NL MVP Bryce Harper would be able to convince his front office to sign his hometown pal, Kris Bryant.

Apparently, we’re going to find out.

While Bowden reported that Bryant was in talks with the Colorado Rockies that have reached such “tense” levels that owner Dick Monfort is not speaking with Bryant’s agent, Scott Boras, who is also Harper’s agent.

"“The Philadelphia Phillies are also playing on Kris Bryant. Kris Bryant grew up with Bryce Harper in Las Vegas, their wives are very close, as couples, they do a lot together, and Harper is really pushing Dave Dombrowski, the President of Baseball Operations, to sign him, but it appears right now, after Seattle made that trade with Cincinnati yesterday, it appears it’s down to Colorado or Philadelphia for Kris Bryant.”"

Bryant would be a perfect fit for the Phillies, as he hits for power and can play almost every defensive position. He’s spent the bulk of his career at third base, but also plays first and every spot in the outfield.

The Phillies outfield currently consists of Harper, Matt Vierling, and Odúbel Herrera, whom the Phillies re-signed this week, much to the chagrin of fans. Signing Bryant would go a long way towards strengthening the offense and defense, as well as showing the world the Phillies are actually trying to contend going forward.

We’ll see.
