Bryce Harper already has his walk-up song for 2022

Spring Training and Opening Day 2022 are months away, but Bryce Harper is getting ready.

It looks like the reigning NL MVP has already chosen his walk-up song for the 2022 Philadelphia Phillies season:

The song isn’t new, but neither are several of his past walk-up songs. He’s previously used several early 2000s hits, including Sum 41’s “Fat Lip,” Nelly’s “Ride Wit Me,” and Moby’s “Flower.”

An epic walk-up song hypes up the crowd and the player, hopefully resulting in a good at-bat. Harper certainly had a lot of those in 2021, leading MLB in doubles (42), slugging (.615), OPS (1.044), and OPS+ (179) en route to his second career NL MVP award, Silver Slugger, and Hank Aaron Award.

Harper also has a history of hitting home runs on Opening Day; in 2017, he became the first player in MLB history to hit five home runs in Opening Day games before turning 25.

Will the MLB lockout delay Spring Training and the 2022 season?

MLB is almost a month into its ninth work stoppage in league history (though it feels like it’s been going on much longer), and there is almost no chance the two sides reach an agreement and unlock before the new year. In fact, the latest rumors and rumblings are that the negotiations and stalemate will take several more months, leading to a delayed Spring Training, which would almost certainly delay the regular season.

Fans will have to wait a while to see if Harper’s new song gets him hyped enough to have another MVP season.
