The Phillies should sign Kyle Schwarber

Kyle Schwarber credits new Phillies hitting coach Kevin Long with drastically overhauling and improving his swing last offseason, when Long was still with the Washington Nationals and Schwarber signed with them. The results were astounding, especially in June of this year, when he hit 16 home runs in 18 games between June 12-29.

Overall, Schwarber finished the season with the second-most home runs of his career, and his best season by average, OPS, OPS+, and both on-base and slugging percentages.

The Phillies were thrilled when Schwarber was traded out of the division up north to the Boston Red Sox, but they’d be even more thrilled to add him and his bat power to their own lineup.

The Phillies should sign Joc Pederson

Joc Pederson turned out to be one of the best midseason pickups of the year, bringing his bat power and lively personality to the Atlanta Braves, and helping to propel them to their first championship since 1995.

If the Phillies are serious about returning to the postseason for the first time since 2011, Pederson’s October experience would come in handy. He’s played 79 career postseason games, including 15 this year. His three home runs, four runs scored, and nine RBI were crucial to his team’s newest trophy.
