The Philadelphia Phillies have won FOUR in a row, including the first three games of this series against the Washington Nationals. Lizzie McGuire was right, this is what dreams are made of.

Thanks to some dominant starts, a praying mantis, and a lot of offensive production, the Phillies are 55-53. They’re 1.5 games behind the New York Mets, but the Atlanta Braves are hot on their tail at 54-54.

Phillies vs Nationals Odds Today

The Phillies are -150 on the moneyline (bet $150 to win $100), while the Nationals are +120 (bet $100 to win $120).

The spread has Washington at +1.5 at -130 (bet $130 to win $100), while the Phillies are -1.5 at +110 (bet $100 to win $110).

If you’re into betting the total amount of runs, the over/under is 8.5 runs tonight. It’s -115 on the over (bet $115 to win $100) and -105 on the under (bet $105 to win $100).

Phillies Pitcher Today

Aaron Nola (4.30 ERA) is on the mound for the Phillies tonight, opposite Joe Ross (4.00 ERA).

This is currently the second-worst year of Nola’s career by ERA, though he still has time to lower it, and August is a new month.

But Nola’s July was rough: he allowed four or more runs in two of his four starts and didn’t manage a scoreless outing. Overall, only three of his 21 starts this season have been shutout, and he’s allowed three or more earned runs in 12 of them.

Nola is coming off an outing in which he threw six innings, and allowed two earned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out five. How he pitches tonight could make or break this win streak.

Ross’ last outing was rough: four and a third innings, five runs (four earned) on seven hits, one walk, and five strikeouts. Hopefully, the Phillies can knock him around a bit this afternoon.

Phillies vs Nationals Prediction Today

As good as the Phillies have been this week, I’m worried they won’t be able to get the sweep tonight. After all, blowing saves is kind of their specialty.
