Beloved Philadelphia Phillies mascot Phillie Phanatic has been having a ball this season.

If the Phillies‘ Phillie Phanatic isn’t your phavorite mascot, what are you even doing?

The lovable, hectic, green ball of chaos has been delighting fans and heckling opposing players and managers for decades, and it seems like he comes up with a new antic every game.

During Wednesday night’s Phillies-Marlins matchup, the Phanatic went above and beyond. It seems that he has a particular fondness for the Marlins because he also had a blast during the series opener on Tuesday.

First, he let Jean Segura, who recently returned from the IL, take his ATV out for a spin. The Phanatic doesn’t let just anyone ride his precious vehicle, but seemed impressed by Segura’s driving skills.

Then came the standoff.

Player standoffs are nothing new, but this was certainly the funniest one we’ve seen in a while. After the National Anthem, Marlins outfielder Magneuris Sierra and Phillies infielder Ronald Torreyes decided to stay out of the dugout and see who caved first.

The Phanatic had other ideas.

He decided to help his pal Torreyes out, and drove his ATV over to the Marlins dugout. Waddling over to Sierra, he began dancing up on him.

Then, the Phanatic decided to join the standoff, placing his fuzzy hand (paw?) over his heart and standing beside Sierra as Aaron Nola began to throw warmup pitches on the mound.

The Phanatic is known for teasing opposing teams, both players and managers.

Towards the end of the anthem standoff, Jazz Chisholm Jr., who was batting leadoff, was ready to get the game going. Unfortunately, the Phanatic was having a little too much fun, so Chisholm walked over to him with his baseball bat, took a few pretend swings, and even lightly tapped his big green belly.

The question has always been “How can you not be romantic about baseball,” but really, “How can you not love the Phanatic?”
