Three Phillies who are most likely to be dealt by the July 30 trade deadline.

Entering Friday’s series opener between the Philadelphia Phillies and Washington Nationals at Citizens Bank Park, the Joe Girardi-led squad sits in third place in the National League East.

Three games under .500 (26-29) and four games behind the first-place New York Mets (27-22), the Phillies have the second-worst run differential in the division (-19). A good chunk of that figure was trimmed in the team’s most recent game played — a 17-3 rout of the Cincinnati Reds on Wednesday.

Before that win, however, the injury-riddled Phillies lost four of their previous five games and are still largely trending in the wrong direction. If things do not improve soon, Dave Dombrowski just might enter “sell mode” ahead of the July 30 trade deadline. Here are three players most likely to be traded if that happens.

1. Jean Segura

It is no secret that Phillies second baseman Jean Segura is probably “on the outs” with the organization, and especially his manager. Even before the season, the Phillies reportedly entertained trade offers for the veteran, but still the task will not come easy — and not just because of his behavior issues. Segura has a full no-trade clause in his contract and is owed nearly $15 million next season, as well as either a $1 million buyout for 2023 or a $17 million team option.

Slashing .322/.366/.456 this season with nine doubles, three home runs, 12 RBI, nine walks, and 22 strikeouts across 40 games and 161 plate appearances, perhaps at least one team would put Segura’s problems aside and be willing to acquire him.
