‘Super-agent’ Scott Boras has reportedly added another Phillies player to his client list: third baseman prospect Alec Bohm.

Alec Bohm has joined a list of Philadelphia Phillies players that includes fellow infielder prospect Bryson Stott; outfielders Bryce Harper and Nick Williams; pitchers Jake Arrieta, Vince Velasquez, and Cole Irvin; and first baseman Rhys Hoskins.

The list is not those of active players on the roster, at least not yet, but rather those who are clients of baseball “super-agent” Scott Boras.

Bohm, considered the organization’s top prospect, has reportedly become Boras’ newest client, according to NBC Sports Philadelphia’s Jim Salisbury.

“Bohm, 23, won the Paul Owens Award as the Phillies’ top minor-league player in 2019. He played in 125 games at three levels, topping out in Double A, and hit .305 with 21 homers, 80 RBIs and an .896 OPS,” Salisbury writes. “In February and March, Bohn participated in major-league spring training camp with the Phillies. He was 9 for 22 (.409) with three RBIs when camp was halted because of the coronavirus health crisis.”

The No. 3 overall pick in the 2018 draft out of Wichita State University joins Boras after previously been represented by the Wasserman agency. The only 2018 first-round pick to have debuted so far is the Chicago Cubs’ No. 24 overall selection, shortstop Nico Hoerner.

Combined thus far in the minor-league system, Bohm has slugged 36 doubles, 21 home runs and 97 RBI spanning 165 games, slashing .293/.368/.474. In college, he produced 40 doubles, 33 home runs and 125 RBI over one more game, 166, slashing .317/.393/.548.

Bohm joining Boras makes it unlikely he could be signed to a long-term deal before being promoted to the majors; the Phillies were successful in doing so for Scott Kingery, who has now played 273 games in red pinstripes across the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

Bohm, the Phillies’ presumed perennial third baseman of the future, is projected to start the 2020 season at Triple-A Lehigh Valley — if baseball returns this year. For now, we wait.
