The Phillies moving off of their current franchise first baseman would definitely be unlikely, however given the way the current roster is constructed, it could still very well happen.

Similar to that of the Segura scenario, the emergence of Alec Bohm as a legit MLB contributor will no doubt push a current starter out of the lineup. While continuing to mold Bohm as a third baseman makes the most sense, many analysts have been quick to point out that Bohm realistically translates better to play first base.

With this in mind, Rhys Hoskins trade rumors actually picked up a bit this past winter, with many fans calling for him to be moved for a starting pitcher. Considering how top-heavy the current staff is, this is a scenario that the front office could revisit later in the season.

Pitching wins championships. Just go look at the starting rotations of the Washington Nationals and Houston Astros from last year’s World Series. Having reliable starters who can consistently put up numbers is imperative in a league where “sluggers” have become commonplace.

While Hoskins is projected to bounce-back from his brutal second half last year, the Phillies will have to make a tough decision on who should remain in their infield once Bohm is up. Hoskins is clearly a better long term option than Segura, but Hoskins would also bring in a bigger haul back.

Throw in the possibility that Bohm might be a natural 1B, Hoskins could very well be playing in a different jersey during the fall.
