Injuries are quickly piling up for the Phillies, but they are hoping that some players can return soon from the injured list.

In the last few weeks, injuries have been piling up for the Phillies. Tommy Hunter has been out since the season started while Victor Arano, Odubel Herrera, David Robertson, Scott Kingery, and Jean Segura have all joined the injured list in the last ten days.

Kingery, Segura, and Herrera are all out with hamstring strains, which has forced the team to re-evaluate how they prepare players for games.

The list added its newest victim Thursday as Roman Quinn (unsurprisingly) sustained his own injury. Manager Gabe Kapler said that Quinn would be out for “several weeks” due to a Grade 2 groin strain. This latest injury only furthers the notion that Quinn cannot be relied upon to stay healthy for long.

With all these injuries, the team has had to dive deep into their positional depth to fill the holes left on the roster. Sean Rodriguez and Phil Gosselin were both added to the 40-man roster while Dylan Cozens and Mitch Walding, who already had 40-man spots, were called up.

These injuries all happening at once have exposed the team’s lack of depth among position players. While the Yankees are showing us it could certainly be worse, the lineup has undoubtedly taken a hit due to all these injuries.

Thankfully, help seems to be on the way. Segura is expected to return on Saturday once he’s eligible.

Segura’s return will be a welcome sight as he started the year with a .328/.384/.415 line and 124 OPS+ in 16 games. Also, Kingery could be back in as soon as two weeks, which will shore up the lack of depth currently on the bench.

Robertson could also be on his way back soon. He told reporters he felt right before Wednesday’s game against the Mets before a re-evaluation Thursday. If things go well, Robertson could be throwing and back on the field quickly.

With the team’s recent struggles, getting these players back, especially the significant contributors, should help the team turn things around.
