The Phillies have made some significant decisions regarding their roster

The Phillies have opted not to tender contracts to Justin Bour and Luis Avilan, both of whom were acquired last summer in trades.

Bour was waived early in the offseason, so the decision to not tender him a contract was already known. The first baseman was thought to be a solid power bat off the bench last year but hit just one home run for Philadelphia and dealt with an oblique injury

Philadelphia sent pitching prospect McKenzie Mills to Miami for Bour in August. He didn’t have a long-term role with the team given the success of Rhys Hoskins and contract of Carlos Santana at first base.

Avilan was a question mark after just 12 games for the Phillies after an August trade with the White Sox. The lefty had a 3.18 ERA in 5.2 innings for the Phillies last year after the organization dealt minor leaguer Felix Paulino to Chicago.

The 29-year-old could have been a solid lefty in the back of the Phillies bullpen, but his price tag was likely too high for the organization.

Philadelphia has six other players who were tendered contract offers, though it’s not yet known if any of those offers were accepted. If they were not, then an arbitration case will be opened between the team and player to work out a one-year deal.

The following players were tendered deals: Aaron Nola, Vince Velasquez Hector Neris, Adam Morgan, Cesar Hernandez, and Maikel Franco.
