Phillies fans won’t see The Man during the NLDS
After the Phillies missed out on the playoffs, fans were ready to see a handful of alums represent new teams during the playoffs this season. Unfortunately, the Man most Philadelphia fans were waiting to see make one last playoff appearance won’t be suiting up for the Dodgers in the National League Divisional Series.
Chase Utley was left off the Los Angeles Dodgers NLDS roster for their five-game series against the Atlanta Braves.
It’s disappointing, but really not a surprise considering Utley’s lack of production in the final season of his career. He’s hitting .213 with only one home run in 87 games this year and his WAR is below 0 for the second time in his career.
In a remarkable 258 playoff plate appearances Utley hit just .224 between his time with Philly and LA. His batting average goes up 40 points if you only count his playoff games with Philadelphia.
