The Phillies drastically improved this year compared to 2017, even though they are ending the season poorly. These five players improved the most this year.

Considering how the last month and a half of the season have gone for the Phillies, it’s understandable to feel disappointed. They held first place in the National League 39 days of the season, including over a month from July 6 to Aug. 12. Now, they are 6.5 games back in the division and are just a game ahead of the Nationals for second place. We have watched the team throw away a golden chance to make the postseason.

With that being said, when you look at the season as a whole, it is a marked improvement from 2017. Philadelphia finished 66-96, the third-worst record in the league. They have already made a 10-win improvement with 14 games left to play. Even though we know they could be better, the team has still improved.

Part of team’s improvement is due to improvements by multiple players on the roster. Let’s take a look at five of the most improved Phillies this season.
