Five things learned about the Phillies after yet another series loss

The Phillies continued their late-season skid with yet another series loss, this time to the Cubs at home. Here are five things we learned about the team.

Well, if you thought a new month would bring any change to the Phillies, you would be wrong. They lost their fifth straight series over the weekend to the Cubs. You have to back almost a full calendar month to Aug. 2-5 for the last time they have won a series. The team is falling fast with a 12-15 record since August started.

The series even started off with a high note Friday night, winning consecutive games for the first time in two weeks. Then the same issues that plagued the team all August long reared their head again to start September, leading to two losses to end the series.

The Phillies are now four games behind the Braves after their win over the Pirates. With the end of the season quickly approaching, the pressure is mounting for the team to jump back into the playoff race.

As the Phillies head out for a six-game road trip, let’s take a look at five things we learned from the Cubs series.
