Another big move is coming across the Phillies trade rumors during the trade deadline

The Phillies have reportedly acquired left-handed relief pitcher Aaron Loup from the Toronto Blue Jays according to SportsNet Canada’s Ben Nicholson-Smith. It’s their second confirmed move in the Phillies trade rumors mill.

Todd Zolecki of MLB.com says the Phillies will send pitching prospect Jacob Waguespack, who is currently in Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Waguespack was a 37th round pick of the Pirates in 2012 but has spent the majority of his minor league career in the Phillies organization.

Loup has a 4.54 ERA for Toronto this season and lefties hit .271 against him. He’s another rental for the Phillies in this deal. However, Loup has a 5.87 ERA in the month of July, which certainly knocked his trade value going into the final minutes of the deadline.

Here’s an outline of the deal that gives the Phillies a new left-handed reliever.

This deal comes after the Phillies acquired catcher Wilson Ramos, who is on the disabled list, from the Tampa Bay Rays for a player to be named later. Ramos will need some more time to return from a hamstring injury before he likely replaces Andrew Knapp as the second catcher behind Jorge Alfaro.

It’s not a flashy name for the Phillies, but it could be an upgrade over Adam Morgan and Austin Davis. Monday night’s loss by Davis was a rarely slip up as he allowed the base hit in the 13th against Boston that would later come around to score against Luis Garcia.[

This could be it for Philadelphia at the deadline, but don’t rule out an outfield bat to help the bench.
