What’s the latest Phillies trade rumors with hours left in the trade deadline?

Phillies trade rumors have been quiet of late with a couple of moves being made around the league. Several pitchers were moved Monday night and the Phillies could use one or two of their own.

Here are four players to watch for at the trade deadline as the Phillies hope to make a long playoff run in the wide-open National League East.

Luis Avilan

Chicago is continuing to rebuild and they have a lefty who could catch the Phillies eye at the trade deadline. Former Braves reliever Luis Avilan is having a fantastic year and could be the lefty needed in the bullpen for Philadelphia.

The 29-year-old is locked in for another season, adding to his controllability for whoever picks him up. Avilan’s splits are interesting, and he could be the shutdown lefty over Adam Morgan and Austin Davis.

Lefties are hitting just .218 with three doubles and no home runs against Avilan this season. He’s quietly been effective for the White Sox as they sit at the bottom of baseball. He could be a sneaky pickup for any team.

Adrian Beltre

Texas is in a selling mood, but they might be stuck with one of their all-time greats. Adrian Beltre is having another really good season in Texas hitting .292 with 19 extra-base hits, and his trade stock is noticable.

However, Beltre seems unwilling to waive his no-trade rights and accept a deal despite playing the sixth most games out of any player to not win a World Series behind Carl Yastrzemski, Ty Cobb, Barry Bonds, Omar Vizquel and Rusty Staub, per Jon Morosi.

Many of his teammates have already been moved, notably Cole Hamels and Keone Kela. Teams are interested in Beltre’s services and he’d make a ton of sense for the Phillies, but it doesn’t sound like anything will come of this.

Andrew McCutchen

Andrew McCutchen is a name that’s emerged on the trade market late for the San Francisco Giants. After learning starter Johnny Cueto could undergo Tommy John surgery, the team appears prepared to move some of their less controllable players.

Jon Morosi points to the Phillies as a potential option for McCutchen as Philadelphia tries to solidify their bench and outfield rotation. McCutchen fits the mold of what Philadelphia appears to be looking for, a veteran bat with playoff experience who can help a young clubhouse.

While he’s hit just .258 with 36 extra-base hits this year, the former MVP could be a lightning rod and leader for the Phillies going into the playoff race. The price should be too high for McCutchen, and a pitcher in the lower level of their minor league system could command his services.

Jake Diekman

Both Ken Rosenthal and Matt Gelb of The Athletic mentioned Jake Diekman Tuesday morning as a player to watch as the Phillies try to sure up the back end of their bullpen. It’s clear the organization needs another lefty in the bullpen after carrying Adam Morgan and Austin Davis for most of the year. Davis allowed the base hit in the 13th inning that would later score to win the game in Boston.

More from Phillies Rumors

Diekman missed most of last season after undergoing multiple colon surgeries, but he’s got a 3.69 ERA in 47 games. Despite being one of the better left-handed pitchers on the trade market Diekman’s splits against lefties aren’t fantastic this season.

vs RH: .190/.284/.300
vs LH: .273/.429/.364

Philadelphia needs someone to shut down left-handed hitters, and I don’t know if Diekman is that guy given his matchups this year.

A reunion would be nice to see, but Diekman feels like something the Phillies already have in their pen.
